Each Day

Each Day

Each day I patiently await
the coming of a smile,
and each day
the moment passes
without a word.
Each night
I write out my sorrows,
begging for a reply,
and waiting for the dawn,
yet only darkness
and silence remain.
How many unknown tears
will I cry
before I smile again?
Only she knows the answer.
Yet still,
each day I patiently await
the coming of a smile,
and each day,
the moment passes,
without a word.
