To her,
I do not rate
high enough on the scale
I’ve no riches to lavish her
with pearls.

I can’t
give her the things,
men who loved her less would.
and to that I say, “What about
the love?”

I ask,
“Who saved your life?”
“Who dealt with your illness?”
“Who is the one you feel safe with?”
It’s me.

I say,
What About the Love?

To her,
I do not rate
high enough on the scale
I’ve no riches to lavish her
with pearls.

I can’t
give her the things,
men who loved her less would.
and to that I say, “What about
the love?”

I ask,
“Who saved your life?”
“Who dealt with your illness?”
“Who is the one you feel safe with?”
It’s me.

I say,
What About the Love?

To her,
I do not rate
high enough on the scale
I’ve no riches to lavish her
with pearls.

I can’t
give her the things,
men who loved her less would.
and to that I say, “What about
the love?”

I ask,
“Who saved your life?”
“Who dealt with your illness?”
“Who is the one you feel safe with?”
It’s me.

I say,
“I love you so.”
and you apologize.
Saying you love me and you know.
I know.
