Crash and Burn©
By: William Phenn

I soared to such exotic heights,
Upon the wings of love.
Climbed half way to the heavens,
To please my turtle dove.

I did such swoops and dives for her,
The twists and turns were best.
I thought I had a kindred soul,
Not one like all the rest.

But then my fears rekindled,
She didn’t feel the same.
I doubt if she remembers,
Something simple like my name.

When feelings tend to wander,
And love is failing fast.
Don’t be to quick to spread your wings,
That flight could be your last.
