I touch his face with trembling fingers
and a heart beating out of control.
I am nervous and he knows.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself,
it doesn''t help,
I plunge ahead
in a whisper
to tell him....

I pour my fears out to him,
they fall like raindrops in a downpour
they pummel him,
they soak his skin.
He collects them in a bucket
to put away for safekeeping,
he will wash my heart clean.

I stop at a most uncomfortable place
in my discourses on seperation anxiety, fear of abandonment,
and the state of our union,
a pregnant pause
waiting to be delivered

He touches my hand
and squeezes it gently.
He is nervous and I know.
He takes a deep breath to calm himself,
but it doesn''t help
He looks into my eyes
and plunges off the edge of confession
to tell me that...

He pours his fears out to me,
they fall like sunshine through an open window
they melt my heart,
they burn my skin.
I collect them in boxes
to put away for safekeeping
I will light his way when he is lost...

~Thou shalt have an everlasting Monday and stand in the moon~
