"The Last Good-bye"

"The Last Good-bye"

The large invincible ship of red iron and silver steel, like a huge beast of immeasurable proportions,
labors slowly to start its long voyage,
carrying a young man as it embarks upon the rippling waters of the blue sea.

As the ship slowly departs,
he smiles,
his brightest smile
to a young woman upon the shore,
of unquestionable innocence,
with eyes the color of the bluest sky.
A smile as warm as a summer''s breeze,
possessing fresh beauty like the most beautiful flowers in spring bloom.

She is the only true love he has ever known.
This truth forces tears to his wanting brown eyes.
Like an ageless photograph, he stands behind the ship''s rail upon its long black deck,
as the bright red sun begins its nightly descent into the sea''s deep waters.
The pains of the moment they find truly hard to bear, but the strength they struggle to find,
to survive the scorching flames engulfing their most passionate hearts.
He looks to the crowded shore
and she to the endless blue sea
and with a somber sigh....
one last time
they waved
good-bye......
