spoke of love
made the night before,
smitten tongue spittin' metaphors
like Hughes,
painting memories in scandalous hues,
rekindling senses sweetly scorched
by She
of amorous renown,
prone to prying promises and pleas
from lips sealed by nuptial ties
now spouting lies
into fountain of truth

and I'm swept downstream
against tide of tradition;
vows, values and pride
brushed aside like dust under Persian rugs
as She,
with deliberate tease
tenderly tugs the handle to my broom...

and we fly,
She and I,
over mythic moonbeams in the sky
spilling prurient passion onto
lust's Milky Way...

scarring innocent stars
with infidelity.

(James G.D. Paul)
