the feeling was real
like black pearls
set in sterling silver
hugging her middle finger
giving eyes pause to linger
on a beauty rare
nearing extinction,
a treat of nature
sweeter than intoxication…

and every fiber of my being salivates
in breathless anticipation
of our next encounter
at the coffee spot
on Piedmont and 5th
where we cuddle undercover
between sips
of chai tea latte
in the corner cubicle...

lest prying hypercurious eyes
unlatch the lid that seals
the sizzling secrets of
a torrid extra-marital affair.

(James G.D. Paul)
