It's Not About Me

It's Not About Me

He wanted to shout, but he had great doubt
That the world would understand
No longer so young, though his heart still sung
For romance tender and grand

He loved his dear wife, and had a good life
But he felt lonely and blue
To go on each day, with something to say
But no one to say it to

It tortured his heart, deciding to start
Down a path to who knows where
But then he met Kat, and decided that
He''d never seen one so fair

An angel was she, as sweet as can be
So beautiful and so kind
With a friendly smile you’d see from a mile
And blessed with a great behind

She had too much grace to work at that place
Where a gentleman was rare
He saw in her eyes she’d heard all the lies
For some reason, still she cared

She knew in his soul that he was not whole
With weaknesses he could not beat
Kat took his big hand, said "I love you and
There''s someone I want you to meet

"It just isn''t true, life''s not about you
See all that you''ve been given?
A beautiful life, two sons and a wife,
Success for which you''ve striven"

Kat knelt at the cross, said "this is my boss
I''ve known him a year or two
With, not above me, patient he loves me
And so he''ll be here for you"

He fell to he knees and asked "Father, please
Take over my center space"
No sooner it spoken, the pain was broken
Removed by infinite grace

“I finally see, it’s not about me”
God called him to share this love
With his darling Kat, or anyone that
Is needful but knows not what of

So every day, at work or at play
He cannot forget that day
Love one another, sisters and brothers
Kat''s love had shown him the way

She will never know how she changed him so
With her kindness and her smile
He honors his wife, went on with his life
But longs for her once in awhile

And neither could know that God loves them so
To watch over this special girl
God’s infinite good meant he and Kat would
Be together in the next world
