I have been on this ship,
Some five weeks or more,
Im travelling back to Ireland
To stand upon her shore ,
Oh mother when I left you
I was just sixteen, your hair was
Long with ringlets your eyes
Sparkling green,
Many years have passed between us,
Many wonders I have seen,
But the picture in my minds eye
Were those sparkling eyes of green
Well the ship has now landed I am
Standing on the shore ,very soon
Ill be back home knocking on the
Door,
As it slowly opens my mother,
Is standing there no longer has she ringlets
But silver thread for hair
Well my travelling days are over
I will treat her like a queen ,
And as long as I live I wont forget
Those sparkling eyes of green.
