Our Place

Our Place

In my mind there''s a hill
I hope in yours, too
Where we made time stand still
Just me and just you

From this hill, such a view
It’s clear to the sea
Where the waters were blue
You saw it with me

At the crest stands an oak
Creates a cool shade
Like a green, leafy cloak
O''er love that we made

In the shade there’s a lawn
The softest green turf
Where we once saw the dawn
Light the crashing surf

And colorful wildflowers
Too many to count
Helped us pass the hours
On our lovely mount

If it ever gets warm
Up there with the trees
Then along came a storm
To stir a cool breeze

And the sun makes its path
From east to the west
Casting a golden swath
But yet, I’m depressed

For this day, warm and bright
I see in my mind
Dissolves into cold night
Of times left behind

I see it quite clearly
These days long ago
But yearning so dearly
Cannot make it so

I pray your mind still sees
Wherever thou art
A hill, and a cool breeze
Our place in your heart.
