A Divorcee's Repentance

A Divorcee's Repentance

God, I love my little island
My only concern is me
I think and say my mind
I find I do agree.

I have no need for explicit explanations,
or long languishing excuses;
no need to reach a comely compromise.
I was tired of being thrifty,
I am through with fifty-fifty,
forty-sixty, twenty-eighty or anything that is a maybe.
No more need for apologize, advise, or baptize.
No more need to get caught up in his world
I am so safe, sound, and secure in mine

But now with eyes that see,
ears that hear
I fear
a storm approaching

My heart no more a stone, no longer austere-
God, I miss my husband.
