LOVE. Such troublesome emotion,
But what a powerful abstract notion!
Just think!
It could be shared or unrequited,
Trusted or even doubted,
Looked for or unwanted,
Impromptu or cultivated,
Vapid or savoury,
It could be eliberating or sending into slavery!
Sweet or sour,
Could last an eternity or only just an hour!
Selfish. Altruistic.
Pragmatic or artistic.
Passionate or unsubstantial,
Repressed or uncontrollable and unconventional!
In time could become sturdy or shaky,
Could deepen, slumber or diminish by fading!
So exhilarating and pleasurable,
But at times dreadfully painful and miserable!
For centuries, as concept, extremely exploited.
It was mentioned in novels and poems by bohemian wordsmiths,
Written in scores by composers and sung by various vocalists,
Sculpted and painted by so many skilled artists!
And still, can you believe it?
This noble, immortal subject is
As fresh and crisp as at the world’s beginning,
When the mere notion had started!
