“Just Like a Moth”

“Just Like a Moth”

My mind keeps circling around your image,
Just like a moth is flying around an incandescent light bulb.
Every rotation is burning my soul with regrets,
As the moth is burning its wings in its fatal attraction.
I’m asking the same questions over and over again:
Was my name not written in “THE Book of Love”?
Left out, not even mentioned in any of its beautiful chapters?
Was my soul doomed forever to yearn?
And hope to no purpose all through this life, and perhaps even thereafter?
Am I a victim of choice, a prisoner of sorrow, the widow of our passion?
Was I engulfed by emptiness, desolation, by the “live happily never after”?
Should I, for eternity, embrace these all, surrender, give myself up?
Because with this painful obsession I’m burning my soul in vain,
Just like a moth is burning its wings in its incandescent fatal attraction!
