A doorway to change

A doorway to change

Before me stands the door,
Seeming at least ten foot tall,
Maybe more.
A rusting round handle,
I know in turning,
Will relieve me of my flaws,
And leave me burning.

Hesitantly,
I look down at turned in ankles,
And bruised, chubby knees,
And wonder,
“Really,
Who would want to see these?”

But my sweating hands,
Remind me,
Of blushing cheeks,
And racing heart beats,
That once were,
And could be again.

Hands on hips,
Sophia Loren.

Shaking,
My hand hovers over the door knob,
Knowing this could be the making,
Or the breaking of my heart.
But when you hit rock bottom,
There’s only one place to go.

Red lips touch,
Marilyn Monroe.

Inside, your fingers graze my thigh,
Just as the many times before,
And I remember why.
As I am drowned in your kisses,
Flaws slip,
Giving way to curving hips,
And hot,
Red,
Lips.
