Brooklyn In August

Brooklyn In August

Concrete pressing along
my tired worn feet
I feel disillusioned and faint
A typical balmy Manhatten July
Recollection of Brooklyn
breaks my pedestrian stride
Long meandering walks and
casual thoughts through the
peak greenery of Prospect Park
I remember the scent of fresh
cut grass as we, alone sat under
canopy of the Maples''s shade
That recess of the main walk
That wrought iron park bench
with green paint chipping of it
That today still holds distance,
your secrets, my desires
Where you kissed me in the cool of dusk
I remember your thoughts,
your sorrow and my lonesome need
to feel your affection
My eyes glowing, your hands caressing
Our chest touching, our heavy breathing
My heart melted faster than
the cherry vanilla ice cream you bought me
Its like I can still taste you still
Hearing your sweet voice say...
Excuse me sir?
Did you say a shot of
expresso in your coffee?

Pen my instrument paper my canvas
