Botticelli's Woman

Botticelli's Woman

I am not a paint by numbers and
he is a master of
the gentle stroke

he looks upon me with eyes
that only see beauty
and in his eyes I see myself

I stand before him
in all of my glorious nakedness,
my flaws and imperfections for him to see

he does not look away
and I am unashamed

My body will not be concealed
under mounds of shyness and timidity
nor from paints or silk sheets

I am opened and exposed
he will leave me uncovered
I have bared my heart and soul to his canvas and

he shapes me in luminescence
with gentle steady hands
no angular, sharp edges

Round and smooth
plump and fleshy

he knows every inch of my body
every blemish, every scar
that he brushes with soft lips

He takes me all in
I hold my breath as I
rise to meet him

I am his work in progress,
his masterpiece

One day he will complete me.....

~Thou shalt have an everlasting Monday and stand in the moon~
