Dissecting Love's Flow

Dissecting Love's Flow

8th grade science lab
cut me open with
sharp blue scalpels
piercing my chest and
exposing my heart
pinning me down like a butterfly with
wings still beating bits of purple, yellow, and gold
dust fluttering memories in my mind''s box
gasping for air while floating through azure
catching my breath on oxygen rich words,
[i]"Will you go with me? Check yes or no."[/i
]gift-wrapped in old gum foil---study
(part two) the human heart with
weight kissing exercises and holding hands at the movies,
but the semester ended---Stuck!
between the moon and New York City,
the bell rang, butterflies were forgotten,
and students pumped out of class into the hall
like blood through a vein.
