When Summer Ends

When Summer Ends

When summer ends, and all the flowers have died, I will not look back and cry, For when the guns of war still linger in the distance, I will pray for your safe return home, before the snow falls upon the dead grass, that has weathered from the heat of the sun, that shines upon your face somewhere that I cannot venture far away from. Hold close the thoughts of home, and know that you are in our thoughts. Someday, someday soon, you will come home, to rest your weary head upon your pillow in your room. Though the memories of war will linger, and dreams of the dead still haunt you. Know you are not alone to suffer in silence. We shall see the summer come again, and watch the flowers bloom.
