Looking Up

Looking Up

I woke up one morning, looking up at the
ceiling above, wondering where did the time
go. My wife was sleeping
in her world of dreams, as I looked at my
hands, worn by the years of labors work
as a youth till now.
I watched our children grow before my eyes
as the day rolled into years. I remember
going to football games and winters snow
and tucking them in at night from the bitter
cold. Now all that''s gone, I feel so old.
I miss the times we shared, I hunger for
more, to be young just once more, but life
doesn''t work that way. We must let go and
give way to our sons and daughters, to
find their way as we did in life''s wonders
of being loving parents. I love them dearly,
I just hope they remember us in the coming
years when they look up one morning.
