In praise of my vestigial aloofness

In praise of my vestigial aloofness

As love becomes
The operative word,
Our minds wind about
The scant ideas, to sing in,
The days and nights.

While the winks and nods comply,
And still our hearts
with late goodbyes,
So as to kiss us off
To sleep, alone.
