Unconditional Love

I watch him with eyes that catch his every breath And smile every time his beloved face frowns in thought Every new distance burns me, another small death Years ago, I had fallen, allowed myself to be caught Fury and distrust eat me away Our lives entwined, as things fall apart emotional hemorage is how we pay For cupid''s thoughts on the human heart. I know him better than he thinks My head and heart are conflicted Does life erode the links? Was heartache then predicted? I smooth his hair as he sleeps in our bed And worry when seeing him frown I have followed him where ever he has led So then why does he laugh as I drown?
