Shade of the Sun

Reluctantly reduced my love had become
Her eyes no longer shined that shade of the sun
My degenerate grudge took its toll on our bond
Withering away at what our love had become

It took days, it took weeks, and it took months but still shunned
As her eyes no longer shined that shade of the sun
Her lips had touched another’s just as mine had done the same
A bursting fire we’d once been was now a dim and dull flame

For too long we’d both sleep, still separate, not one
For her eyes no longer shined that shade of the sun
Yet as my head rest, and hers alike mine
Our dreams were of one another, our hopes intertwined

I’ve been a fool in the rain, you know now that it’s done
For I see your eyes shine that shade of the sun
From my lips to your nose, on a cold winters day
I’ll be here for you forever, Happy Valentine’s Day
