Sometimes I wish I was a bird

Sometimes I wish I was a bird

Sometimes I wish I was a bird
Soaring throughout the skies above
Glancing down upon earths soil
And the humans that live there

Everything seems so peaceful from a distance
So beautiful, so admirable, so ideal
It isn't until approaching the branch of a maple tree
That I'd realize how corrupt and perplex planet earth truly is

Sometimes I wish I was a bird
Singing songs of love within the tree tops
Only never really knowing the feeling of what love is
Never having to experience the disappearance of a lover
Never knowing a vulnerable state of mind

Sometimes I wish I was a bird
Constantly migrating south for the winter
Accustom to change
With a new journey lying ahead
While another year lies behind

If I was a bird
I'd expand my wings and fly away
Far from this hostile society
Far from the oppressive life that i've been given
I'd glide through the night sky
Making the moon my only companion
