The Day Of Today

The Day Of Today

Ever so slowly,
crawling our way,
the time is approaching,
the end of the day.

The obscured sun descended,
albeit not wanting in a heroes death,
with a last extravagant burst of colour,
placing an eternal wreath.

A mere memory to remain, forever,
we say,
a tear, a sigh, will not prolong,
the day, going its way.

Departed forwith,
never to shine anymore,
the day has gone the way of all days,
never concieved, intended to endure.

Yet as sure as is its demise,
another will undoubtedly succeed,
usurp its role as the day of today,
with all its malice and greed.

Yet when it goes its way,
the way of all before,
it will be remembered as a fond old memory,
full of life and colour.

So, I conclude, my friend,
let us not wallow in yesterdays end,
why lament the fate of the past,
and ignore what today could portend.

So open your eyes, look!
Grab whatever you see,
enjoy today, as with time it will end,
to be usurped by another with glee.
