Beast of Burden

Beast of Burden

How does one live with someone you don?t know who loves you or not? How do you try? Is it something you did? Did me coming into their life ruin it?

I ask myself these questions everyday that I look into their face while they find every flaw you have, and pull it into the light for all to see.

With their friends they tell hurtful stories about you. In front of your friends they make you cry. After that the friends never come back.

Do they find pleasure in your tears? Is it a game to them? How much longer before the pain rips you apart?

By now I am just an empty shell of a person being held together by string and old duct tape.

Every new blow and insult further cracking your shell as if one would crack and egg. Why do they not see the pain in your face and the sorrow in your eyes?

You look at them through tears as they at you with a smirk and a laugh. To them you are nothing but a donkey to have more burdens put on.

It?s time to wake up. Your mask is gone. The shell is breaking. Soon, you will break under all the burdens. Nothing will be left but a grey and shadowy version of yourself.

Why don?t you just leave, leave it all behind and never return? The answer is because you love them.
