It fills her lungs and she gasps for air
Drowning deep in her disease
She screams for help, but nobody cares
As water engulfs her, she aches for release

It pulls at her soul with a cruel, wicked grin
Tells her she's worthless; she should disappear
She's young and she's hopeless, cutting her skin
But she's felt this for a thousand years

The cold, murky water grips at her ankles
Like a fish on land, she squirms; she's crying
She knows she's fighting a difficult battle
She'll either survive or die trying

The demons inside, they laugh and they jeer
She's tainted with poison and guilt
If you could read her mind, you'd be in tears
It's her heart that the monsters have killed

Overwhelmed and lost, she picks up the blade
The pain - it feels so relieving
I've always said depression is drowning
But you can see everyone breathing
