Watch that space there
antarctic winter incarnate
watch the barest crack, become a gaping stare.
And in leaving the house,
he regained some of that swagger,
that made you love him and then despair.
Down the street, he began that stumbling stagger
to the pub and back again, but then,
that''s what made you care,
wasn''t it?

Now you think he''s bothered about you,
how could he possibly make it through?
Without a guiding hand, surely he''s a lamb,
on his way to slaughter by the booze?
How could he move along, how could life not work out like a sad love song?
Why isn''t he pining at the window,
looking at the stars through streams of tears?
You''d think he''s obsess, wouldn''t you?
