The Hour

Hello again, me eddying divide.
Are you satisfied like
half-moon wedges
spritzed into your
happy hour cocktail.

8 oh clock, oh God,
time is slick as a pickerel.

Hello treetop teeth
chewing the sun.

A symphony of frogs’ tongues
yank her down
and finish the business.

9 oh clock, Dear Diary,

A starlit nation etches mementos
onto my naked skin.

Now the words cannot be so
aloof on the backs of moths
drifting about in the darkness.
