I Walk an Empty Mall

I Walk an Empty Mall

I walk a mostly empty mall.
It keeps my numbers low.
I struggle down the stairs
Then up the other side.
Time and overuse
Makes my knee complain.
I struggle to breathe
As minor congestion
Makes me pant
To have enough breath
To finish one more lap.

I do it for the little ones
That laugh and giggle
And like when their grampy
Gets to spend some time.
The winter chill drives me
To visit an empty yesterday
To get another tomorrow.
